More than 30 years ago, Soviet scientists discovered and described the phenomenon of wear-free friction.
However, early products (oils and greases) based on this discovery, despite their advantages, had significant drawbacks that limited their practical application, including rapid oxidation and sediment formation.
In the 2000s, Russian scientists developed the A-Lub formulation, which is free from these disadvantages.
A-Lub prevents sedimentation and oxidation of oils and greases over time while significantly reducing friction and wear of components.
Lubricants and oils incorporating A-Lub technology were tested between 2005 and 2012 in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Railways of the Russian Federation and at the initiative of Russian Railways (RZD).
Specialists from VNICTI (the All-Russian Research and Design Technological Institute of Rolling Stock) conducted comparative testing of oils.
Tests were carried out at locomotive depots in Uzlovaya, Novomoskovsk, Bryansk-2, and Ryazan (Moscow Railway) and Ivanovo (Northern Railway).
More than 200 diesel locomotives, including models ChME3, 2M62U, 2TE10M, and their modifications, participated in the experiments.
